HEALTH & SAFETY

 

The Merrick Jewish Center Health and Safety Committee is focused and committed to the well-being of our congregants, guests, and visitors of our shul. The committee’s mission to maintain health and life-safety is rooted in meeting the commandment of Pikuach Nefesh or saving a life. The committee’s involvement in Jewish and congregational life encompasses various roles, including but not limited to:

- Offering health and well-being seminars or classes, such as CPR and First Aid
- Maintaining the MJC’s first aid equipment, including 4 public access automated external defibrillators (AEDs)
- Building relationships with Nassau Country Police and EMS as well as local Fire Departments and EMS agencies
- Collaborates with the MJC Emergency Preparedness & Security Committees to take a holistic Life Safety approach
- An advisory committee to the MJC leadership

The committee is currently comprised of various healthcare professionals trained in various sub-specialties including:

- Physicians
- Nurse practitioners
- Nurses
- Dentists
- Non-medical personnel
- MJC board representation
