Donna Bartolomeo, Executive Director

Donna joined the Merrick Jewish Centre family in January 2022 with over 27 years of administrative experience.  Her synagogue involvement includes serving as the office administrator of Bay Terrace Jewish Center (2002-2006) followed by filling the role of Executive Director of Temple Beth Sholom of Roslyn (2006-2021). She is the mother of four and the very proud grandmother of six grandchildren.

Donna’s responsibilities include the overall supervision of the day-to-day operations of our synagogue building, including maintenance, security, and staff. She manages the MJC office, coordinates the synagogue calendar and events, plays a significant role in membership retention, and facilitates the efforts of our clergy, professional staff, and lay leaders. In addition, she is involved in budgeting and grant writing.

Donna enjoys interacting with the members of MJC at synagogue services and hopes they will stop by the office to discuss any issues they may have.

Sharon Solomon, Education Director

As Education Director of the Merrick Jewish Centre Hebrew School, Sharon Solomon brings excitement and innovation to the vibrant MJC community. Her dedication to education, spanning over two decades, is marked by a relentless pursuit of excellence and a commitment to innovative teaching methods.

Since 2006, Sharon has served as the Director of Education at Temple Beth Sholom in Roslyn Heights. In this role, she has overseen a diverse range of educational programs, including Makom High School and Tikvah, an inclusive special needs program. Her responsibilities have included curriculum development, teacher supervision, professional development, and community engagement. Sharon's exceptional skills in creating a supportive learning environment and fostering meaningful Jewish educational experiences for students of all abilities have been widely recognized. 

Her philosophy is to create dynamic Jewish values embedded in community with a core emphasis on interactive education, project-based learning and enacting the principal teaching of Torah values as a way of life.  Students and families embark on a spirited hands-on journey towards living proudly a Torah way of life along with a deep love and commitment to Israel, the Hebrew language, and the Jewish people.

Sharon has been an active member and past president in the Conservative Principals Council of Long Island.  She is currently involved in the Long Island Educators Network through the Jewish Education Project working on creating curricula with an emphasis on Israel education.  She currently sits on the board of The Center for Jewish Studies in Queens College which focuses on cultural events for the greater community.
