MJC Enrichment Classes - Fall 2023
Music for Aardvarks: Nursery 0-3 yrs
Thursday 4:15pm-5:00pm
Join Music for Aardvarks for a dynamic 45 minute class that encourages participation, socialization and most of all, fun! This music and movement class is filled with nursery rhymes, books, musical instruments and dancing to pop music as well as children's favorites.
Pioneer Sports: Pre/K-K
Thursday 4:15pm-5:15pm
Get up, get going, and get active! A variety of sports and games will be played each week such as: Soccer, Tball, Basketball, Dodgeball, Replay Races, Kickball, and many more! Programs will include warm up games as well as learning basic skills of each sport. Each class will end with a high-energy game with the sport played that day!
Studio Time Arts: K-2 (Session 1)
Thursday 4:15pm-5:15pm
In this fun and exciting visual arts class, young artists will create projects in a variety of media (drawing, painting, collage, and mixed-media). Artists will explore different themes in their art and make connections to famous artists. Each project takes one or two sessions to complete. Through creativity, exploration, and self-expression, artists will build their fundamental art skills and make beautiful works of art that they are proud to share at home!

In this fun and exciting visual arts class, young artists will create projects in a variety of media (drawing, painting, collage, and mixed-media). Artists will explore different themes in their art and make connections to famous artists. Each project takes one or two sessions to complete. Each week, we will focus on different themes like animals, flowers, and ice cream, just to name a few! Through creativity, exploration, and self expression, artists will build their fundamental art skills and make beautiful works of art that they are proud to share at home.
Chess Nuts: 1st-5th grade
Thursday 4:15pm-5:15pm
Chess Nuts holds chess classes for children in over 50 schools across Long Island and they are coming to the Merrick Jewish Center! Each class will consist of a chess lesson from a top chess coach followed by coached play time. All abilities are welcome - children will be grouped by grade and ability. Have your child join the fastest growing sport in the U.S.!
